An uncommon experience: Tansen by Trialogue Company (Delhi), Birla Sabhagar

Based on Girish Chaturvedi’s novel, directed by Sudheer Rikhari, Tansen uniquely combines the legendary maestro’s biography with live music and Kathak dance. It begins with his dilemma between ibadat and ishq. Every artist, even Tansen, must decide if he has achieved what he wanted or must continue his search. The drama also tracks the journey of Hindustani classical from Dhrupad through Qawwali and Hori to Khayal. Rikhari has acted the lead in 60 productions, sung lead for Indian Ocean and, currently, for Susmit Sen Chronicles. Tansen has had over 130 performances already.
